Hydrogen therapy is an informal term for wellness routines that use molecular hydrogen (H₂) gas. In consumer use it takes three forms: inhaling hydrogen through a nasal cannula, bathing in hydrogen-rich water, and drinking hydrogen-rich water. In every case the hydrogen is generated on demand by an electrolysis cell that splits water into hydrogen and oxygen — nothing is added to the water chemically.
Owners typically build hydrogen into a daily wellness routine alongside sleep, training and recovery habits — a morning or evening inhalation session, or a hydrogen bath at the end of a hard day. Molecular hydrogen is a non-toxic, non-irritating gas and the body already produces small amounts of it in the gut. The practical safety questions with any device are gas purity, electrical certification and ventilation. Our systems use PEM/SPE cells running on distilled water, carry CE, FCC and RoHS marks for the hardware, and are supplied with session guidance. Inhalation delivers hydrogen gas directly through a nasal cannula during a seated session, typically 20–60 minutes. Hydrogen bathing dissolves hydrogen into the bathwater, so the exposure is whole-body and passive for the length of the bath. Inhalation suits a focused daily protocol; bathing suits a longer, more restorative ritual. Many owners use both, and the two are not interchangeable in terms of delivery.
Alkaline electrolysis uses a liquid caustic electrolyte such as potassium hydroxide, which has to be topped up and managed, and typically produces an undifferentiated hydrogen-oxygen mixture. PEM/SPE electrolysis uses a solid polymer membrane and runs on pure or distilled water, which allows the hydrogen stream to be separated and its purity defined. For consumer inhalation, where you want to know what you are breathing, that separation is the material difference.
The number that matters is the purity of the hydrogen stream itself, not just the total gas flow. No. Alkaline and ionised water marketing is built around raising pH; molecular hydrogen is about dissolved H₂ gas concentration, usually measured in parts per billion. A water can be alkaline with almost no dissolved hydrogen, and hydrogen-rich water can be pH-neutral. They are different measurements of different things.
Molecular hydrogen has a real and growing published literature, mostly small human trials and laboratory work looking at mechanisms such as oxidative stress signalling. It is early-stage research rather than settled clinical evidence, and we do not present it as proof of any outcome.
