Definition
Large-volume hydrogenation means raising and holding dissolved hydrogen concentration across many tens or hundreds of litres — an entirely different problem from hydrogenating a single glass.
Warning: reactive material degrades
The only way to increase tablet output is to add more reactive material, which multiplies the dissolving pellet residue and the trace contaminants that come with it.
Compared to SPE/PEM electrolysis
Continuous SPE/PEM electrolysis solves volume by running for the duration of use, replenishing hydrogen continuously rather than delivering it all at once.
- Tablets: fixed gas payload spread across the full volume
- Electrolysis: output continues for the whole session
- Tablets: high surface area accelerates loss
- Electrolysis: replenishment keeps concentration up
