Definition
Purity, in hydrogen production, describes both the hydrogen gas itself and what else enters the water alongside it. Tablets are judged on both counts because the pellet becomes part of the water.
Warning: reactive material degrades
A tablet is not a purity-controlled process. Its reactive material degrades into the water by design, and manufacturers acknowledge trace contaminants — including heavy metals — can result.
Compared to SPE/PEM electrolysis
SPE/PEM electrolysis is purity-controlled end to end: hydrogen is generated at the membrane to 99.991% certified purity and no consumable material is introduced.
