Hydrogen tablets are often described as a convenient way to add hydrogen to water, but several common assumptions do not hold up under scrutiny. Below we address three of the most persistent myths and contrast them with how SPE/PEM electrolysis actually works.
Tablets produce pure hydrogen
Fact: Tablets generate hydrogen through dissolving reactive material. As the tablet breaks down, trace contaminants — including heavy metals — can remain in the water.
Tablets can hydrogenate a bath
Fact: A tablet produces a fixed burst of hydrogen that rapidly escapes. A bath requires continuous output to reach saturation.
Tablets are equivalent to electrolysis
Fact: Electrolysis separates hydrogen through a membrane. Tablets dissolve reactive material directly into the water.
