Definition
Saturation is the state where water holds hydrogen at or near its maximum dissolved concentration and is continuously topped up as gas escapes to the air.
Warning: reactive material degrades
A tablet has one chance to deliver its hydrogen, and it delivers it by consuming itself. Once the reactive material is gone, concentration only falls — while any trace contaminants from the degraded pellet remain.
Compared to SPE/PEM electrolysis
Continuous SPE/PEM electrolysis maintains saturation by generating hydrogen for as long as the system runs, offsetting off-gassing in real time.
- Tablets: peak then immediate decline
- Electrolysis: sustained saturation for the whole session
- Tablets: no way to offset off-gassing
- Electrolysis: continuous replenishment at 99.991% purity
